Does Beethoven die in Dog Sees God?

I was watching youtube videos for the play Dog Sees God Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead and I saw a scene where Matt slammed Beethoven's head in the piano and put his fingers in and slammed on them. His fingers were bloody and he ped out. I also watched the end and everyone was sad. So I umed he was dead. Can someone clear this up for me?
