Why lower back tats have such a bad wrap.?

Do you think lower back tattoos are disliked because of the term "tramp stamp"? If this term never originated do you think lower back tattoos would have such a bad wrap? I have seen a lot of tats on the lower back that are really cool and should NOT be considered a tramp stamp but now a days if you get one that is what people automatically think.
